Spring has sprung & wedding season is among us. As the festivities near and far start to unfold, the panic to find THE DRESS begins. I receive countless link requests on this particular subject, therefore a sub-stack dedicated to wedding guest dresses was called for.
Upon my research, I did find that most everything out there is $$$. The category for under $500 is truly skim, and what is there, isn’t all that amazing. However, I feel like I honed in on a good selection with various price points in mind.
Now, remember, I am a big advocate for only investing in styles I can see myself rewearing. I truly despise having to get something new for every event - weddings included. I listed styles below that would have potential down the line in your wardrobe, for a variety of different occasions; ie vacation, etc. Or simply, have the strength for a rewear. Let’s begin!

Forever a staple, the little black dress (or gown) works for any wedding & always makes a statement. This is where the term ‘less is more’ truly comes into play. Long term, I would suggest investing in a few timeless black event dresses that can recycle; people usually don’t remember the black dress you wore to your cousins wedding in 2021. Short term, go for a style you find dramatic, yet modern. Keep your accessories sleek to match & don’t overkill the look with too many statement pieces. Subtle yet classic jewelry to tie everything in, like these earrings from Dorsey would be my choice for the entire wedding season. While I prefer black for black tie / cocktail attire weddings, styles like the acne studios dress can be dressed down for a bit more casual vibe. Lastly, heels with a square’d out bottom are the key to surviving the night. Trust me.

Right behind the iconic black dress, is the neutral color palette. In my opinion, I find that the earth tone hues add a touch of color while remaining understated. These styles work for any venue, but if I had to pick, I would say specifically coastal venues, wine regions, Europe, just a few ideas off the top of my head. Keeping your accessories in the same color family take the look to the next level of put together. While I love gold accents here, mixed metals work effortlessly as well.

I resist buying into color on a regular basis but something about a statement color in a beautiful dress just gets me. It feels happy & it really accentuates the type of energy we are looking to express while celebrating our loved ones. Here, I would opt for more pale greens & yellows, and certain shades of pink / orange. Everything I linked above works lovely for beach weddings, Mexico, islands & so forth. I threw in two black options that work nicely for said events as they read more ‘casual’ & ‘fun’. I would accessorize with unique handbags like so and tonal shoes to compliment the color worn. I’d do a statement earring here & stack rings to finish off the look. Later, these styles would work well on a vacation or bridal shower in the future!
Before I go, here are a few RED honorable mentions that sadly didn’t get it’s own collage but just as stunning!
Reformation Dress, Solace London Bysha Dress, Beare Park Dress, Staud Ashanti Dress
